Johnny Bench Was A Two-Time MVP "Baseball Todd" (aka Todd Newville) met former Cincinnati Reds catcher and Hall of Fame member JOHNNY BENCH on March 28, 1998, inside the high school gymnasium in Binger, Okla. Bench visited his hometown for a fundraiser for the local Little League program. Bench met people and signed autographs for hours - and the occasion remains Baseball Todd's greatest thrill to date. A personalized autographed copy of this same photo now hangs proudly in Baseball Todd's baseball room. Baseball Todd's father, Richard, snapped the photo. Thanks, Dad! Along with my dad Richard, I was an invited member of the media for the 3rd Annual Warren Spahn Awards ceremony on Jan. 30, 2002, at the Oklahoma Sports Museum in Guthrie, Okla. A banquet and presentation followed at the Masonic Temple in Guthrie, where the photo at right was taken of my father and I with the legendary Warren Spahn himself. It was a thrill to meet Mr. Spahn up close and personal. He even graciously autographed my copy of a 1968 Tulsa Oilers official scorecard; Spahn was featured on the cover as the team's manager.
