Richard Newville's Little League Team

0
This photo is my father Richard's baseball team (the Putnam City Braves) from 1960 when my father was 14 years old. My dad is the young man on the far right. His dad (my late grandpa Orval) was the head coach and he is the gentleman in the very back, top left corner. The photo was taken where All Sports Stadium (home of the old Oklahoma City 89ers) currently sits. This obviously was taken before the stadium was built in 1962. My dad's team is standing along the third base line with a berm in the background. The stadium and berm (where a few foul balls were retrieved at 89er games by yours truly later on in the late 1970s and 1980s) are still there. Unfortunately, the Oklahoma City 89ers are not. The Oklahoma Redhawks are now the Triple A minor league club of the Texas Rangers and play in downtown OKC in the Southwestern Bell Bricktown Ballpark. While there aren't any baseball legends in the photo, it's certainly a significant piece of nostalgia for Baseball Todd.
